Airplay For Mac
Watch. Listen. Share. AirPlay lets you do it all.
Calendar for march 2019. AirPlay is a technology created by Apple that lets you stream the display signal from your Mac to your second- or third-generation Apple TV. AirServer turns your Mac into a universal mirroring receiver, with the exception of Miracast, allowing you to mirror your device's display using the built-in AirPlay or Google Cast based screen projection functionality; one by one or simultaneously to AirServer.
- Another Mac-only feature of AirPlay is the ability for computers to receive AirPlay streams, not just send them. Some Macs running recent versions of macOS X can function like speakers or an Apple TV. Just send audio or video from an iPhone or iPad to that Mac and it can play the content.
- Many MacBooks - specifically MacBook Airs that were manufactured after mid-2011 and MacBook Pros manufactured after early 2011 - support AirPlay Mirroring technology. This feature enables wireless audio and video sharing with another compatible iOS or OS X device, and you can turn it on using the AirPlay icon located in the notifications bar at the top of your screen.
AirPlay lets you share videos, photos, music, and more from Apple devices to your Apple TV, favorite speakers, and popular smart TVs. And what you share always stays personal and private. So sit back and enjoy everything you love — in more places than ever.
And just like that, it’s on TV.
